Job Purpose

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing all warehouse operations to ensure the efficient receipt, storage, inventory management, and dispatch of goods. The role ensures operational excellence, compliance with company standards, and delivery of service KPIs. This position also holds responsibility for warehouse budgeting, cost control, and financial performance management.

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Warehouse Operations Management

  • Oversee inbound, outbound, picking, packing, and dispatch activities.
  • Ensure compliance with SOPs related to safety, food hygiene, storage, and handling.
  • Manage space utilization, slotting strategies, and layout optimization.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives (LEAN/5S/Kaizen).

2. Inventory Management

  • Maintain accurate stock levels through regular cycle counts and annual stock counts.
  • Investigate and resolve stock variances.
  • Monitors expiry, damages, and returns processes.
  • Ensure optimal inventory rotation (FIFO/FEFO).

3. Team Leadership & Development

  • Supervise, train, and evaluate warehouse supervisors, team leaders, and staff.
  • Plan manpower needs based on demand and seasonal fluctuations.
  • Ensure high team morale, discipline, and performance management.

 

4. Budgeting & Financial Management (Core Requirement)

  • Develop and manage the annual warehouse operating budget.
  • Track and control costs related to:
    • Labor and overtime
    • Warehouse rent, utilities, and services
  • Analyze monthly financial performance vs. budget.
  • Prepare cost-saving initiatives and ROI analyses (e.g., automation, process improvements).
  • Validate supplier invoices and manage cost approvals.
  • Forecast future financial needs based on volume projections.

 

6. Systems & Reporting

  • Produce daily, weekly, and monthly operational and financial reports (KPIs, cost dashboards).
  • Ensure seamless coordination with finance, supply chain, procurement, and commercial teams.

 

7. Vendor & Stakeholder Management

    • Manage relationships with 3PLs, leasing companies, and service providers.
    • Negotiate service-level agreements (SLAs) and evaluate performance.
    • Collaborate with internal teams (sales, logistics, planning) to meet customer expectations.

 

Qualifications & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or Business.
    • Minimum 6–10 years of warehouse/logistics experience, including 3–5 years in a managerial role.
    • Strong knowledge of WMS, ERP systems, and data analytics.
    • Proven experience in budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting.
    • Certifications (optional but valuable): LEAN, Six Sigma, APICS, CILT.
